Costa Rica; Alberto & Diego Guardia Caturra

from $12.00

This coffee comes from the Hacienda Sonora farm in Carrillos Alto de Poás, Alajuela, Central Valley. This estate has been in Alberto’s family for more than a century! Another really awesome thing about this farm is that the energy consumed by the farm is 100% renewable energy! It supplies power to the coffee mill and provides a portion of free electricity for some of the people who live and work at the farm. Hacienda Sonora grows 20 different varieties, this one being Caturra and Natural Process.

Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon variety and is known for its bright acidity and mild body. In this cup, you’ll find pleasantly bright acidity followed by a vibrant lemon citrus. The body is light but round, with a nice dry mouthfeel. It reminds me of a dry champagne, as it has a slight natural sweetness. Other flavors shine through as the cup cools down, like Dragon Fruit, Strawberry, and Cocoa.

The champagne quality of this coffee is unlike anything I’ve tasted, it is quite nice.
